How Call Pet Keeps Your Pet Footage Private
Call Pet separates the media path from signaling. Here is what happens when you pair devices and start a call.

Understand the media path
Many connected cameras offer cloud recording or route media through provider infrastructure. Depending on the product and settings, that can mean:
- Cloud features may upload or retain footage outside your devices
- Provider infrastructure becomes part of the privacy and security boundary
- Retention, access, and encryption depend on the provider's design and settings
- You need to understand where recordings are stored and who controls the keys
Encrypted WebRTC transport
Call Pet uses WebRTC to connect the Monitor and Controller devices for live audio and video.
The app prefers a direct device path when the two networks allow it. If a restrictive NAT, carrier, Wi-Fi, or firewall blocks a usable direct path, WebRTC may use TURN to relay encrypted media packets. TURN relays do not hold the media decryption keys.
Call Pet still does not provide cloud video recording or cloud storage. STUN helps with network address discovery; signaling servers help the devices exchange encrypted setup and control messages.
End-to-end encryption
Media and control messages use different encryption layers:
WebRTC media path
A direct path is preferred; TURN may relay encrypted packets when networks block a usable direct path.
Media encryption (DTLS/SRTP)
WebRTC protects the audio and video session with DTLS/SRTP between the paired devices.
Encrypted signaling and controls
The paired devices use X25519 key agreement and AES-256-GCM to encrypt signaling and control messages. The signaling server only forwards ciphertext.
What Call Pet cannot access
Connection infrastructure may process limited network metadata, and optional AdMob or RevenueCat features may process device, ad-interaction, or purchase data. Call Pet does not provide cloud recording or storage for audio/video content. Read the Privacy Policy for details.

- Server log-retention timing is intentionally not stated here until production TURN/signaling configuration is verified.
- Call Pet is not a covert-surveillance tool, emergency-alert system, medical device, or certified professional security system.
Set up in five steps
Install Call Pet on both devices
Use an iPhone or iPad as Controller. A compatible iPhone, iPad, or Android device at home can be the Monitor.
Set the home device as Monitor
Choose "Monitor" and keep its pairing QR code on screen.
Set the main device as Controller
Open Call Pet on the main iPhone or iPad and choose "Controller".
Scan the Monitor QR code
Use the Controller to scan the QR code displayed by the Monitor.
Leave the Monitor ready
Keep Call Pet open in the foreground on the standby page. Low-brightness dark mode reduces heat and burn-in risk; it is not lock-screen or background operation.
